Longtails: The Wildfires of Summer Cover Reveal

Hello everyone! Wow, what a year it has been. When I decided to publish not one but TWO books this year, I don’t think I could have possibly imagined the amount of work it would take.  But now, here we are with Book 2 of Longtails finally ready to meet all of you! Longtails: The Wildfires of Summer will be available everywhere books are sold on September 23, 2019.  That’s right, the LAST DAY OF SUMMER! Talk about just making the cut!

With that being said, I thought we’d take a look at the amazing cover art, designed and illustrated by Dexter Allagahrei, who you may recall did the cover for Longtails: The Storms of Spring.  With any luck, I won’t have scared him away with the crazy last minute deadline of this cover and we’ll have him for rest of the series!

Alright, enough talk, here’s the front cover!

And of course, here’s the back cover!

Since it’s a little small, I thought I’d include the back cover text here for you:

In a not too distant future, humanity is extinct. The world is now ruled by animals who wield swords, cast spells, and use what we left behind to craft weapons, mechs and motorbikes.  And while darkness may be looming just over the horizon, the greatest threat the nations of this new world now face is each other.

After learning to accept himself and his newfound powers, Del Hatherhorne and his band of Longtails are called upon to help broker a peace treaty between the Confederacy of Blue Jays and the Raccoon Enclave.  However, when the raccoons realize that Del, the one and only Trelock, has been invited to the treaty signing, things quickly escalate beyond any of their control. Now, a fire blazes to the south, a war rages right outside the ancient blue jay city of Nesavary, and old enemies are closing in from all sides. Del, along with new friends and old, will need to learn to ignite hope in the face of total destruction as they attempt to survive The Wildfires of Summer.

From Jaysen Headley, author of Longtails: The Storms of Spring and A Love Story for Witches, the epic woodland adventure continues in this exciting second chapter of the Longtails Saga.

Draw your sword, rev your engine, and answer the call of the LONGTAILS!

I can’t wait for all our loyal Longtails fans to get a hold of this book in less than a month! Are you excited? Let me know in the comments and make sure to follow the Longtails adventures on our official Facebook page!

The Future.

Humanity is Extinct.

Ruins of human civilization lay as the bedrock of a new world order governed by animals of all shapes and sizes.

Biological warfare and radiation during World War 4 have had surprising effects on the creatures of the world.  Some for the better.  Some for the worse.  Raccoons scour the countryside for motorbike parts.  Squirrels have taken to the sky aboard flying ships.  Danger lurks around every corner.

A large population of mice, small as they are, has migrated to the city of Verden.  There, they created a thriving society protected by a magic-casting, sword-wielding team of intrepid soldiers, adventurers and explorers—the Longtails.

This is their story.

CHAPTER ONE

The Not So Special Mouse

Del Hatherhorne was anything but a hero.  In fact, he was the epitome of a nobody as far as mice were concerned.  His short, coarse fur was the color of brown commonly referred to as mouse-brown.  Typical.  His whiskers were of perfectly average length.  Forgettable.  His tail was not too long—nor too short, and his belly was rounded in a way that suggested he didn’t get much exercise but also didn’t gorge himself on treats.  Ordinary.  Even his age was average.  He was six seasons old, making him no longer a youthful mouse, but also not elderly.  But it wasn’t just an amalgamation of his height, weight, age or appearance which made Del so unfathomably unmentionable.

Longtails: The Storms of Spring Cover Reveal

This may sound strange, but I sometimes don’t actually start to believe that a book I am writing will be released to the public until the cover is finished.  There’s something about seeing the cover which just makes everything feel a little bit more real.  That being said, I am thrilled and ecstatic to finally reveal the official cover for Longtails: The Storms of Spring, which releases in print and ebook on April 24.  The artwork and design was done by the wonderful Dexter Allagahrei who has been fantastic to work with on this project.  Dexter is always timely and puts up with my many requests and changes.  He is also responsible for most of the artwork on this site.  That being said, Longtails would not be possible without Dexter, so I want to thank him whole-heartedly for all the love, support and time.  Okay, let’s get to the reveal!!!

Kando Fanart – Mean Green

Hello all!  Today I am so excited because I woke up to our very first Kando fanart.  Kando is a hardened warrior.  He’s literally taken down a deer all by himself as part of his rite of passage as a member of the Demon Clan.  That being said, seeing him look so friggin’ adorable was too much for me to handle.  I just love it!!!  Thanks Mean Green for this cute picture of Mr. Grumpy Pants!
